Digital evolution at Educational and Scientific Institute “Prydniprovsk State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture”: how was the open lecture from Leica Geosystems before the CREATE 3D SCAN competition In the walls of USUST ESI «PSACEA», a landmark event took place for future leaders of the architecture and construction industry – an open lecture by the experts of distributors of Leica Geosystems products in Ukraine. The meeting was the final stage of preparation before the start of the large-scale CREATE 3D SCAN competition. Students and young scientists of the institute had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of high-precision technologies and learn about the intricacies of working with equipment that today defines the world standards of 3D modeling and BIM technologies. The main highlights of the lecture: Practical experience: Speakers of NAVGEOCENTR LLC Vitaliy Golovachev and GEOTREND LLC demonstrated the capabilities of modern laser scanners and shared life hacks on how to get the cleanest point cloud even in difficult conditions. The future of the profession: The integration of scanning results into architectural projects and the process of restoration of infrastructure objects of Ukraine were discussed. “We saw an incredible demand for knowledge among the youth of ESI «PSACEA». Such meetings help to reduce the distance between the student bench and work with premium-class equipment,” the speakers of the lecture noted. Thanks to this lecture, the teams participating in the competition received the necessary technical background to implement their ideas. Now the most interesting thing is ahead: applying the acquired knowledge in practice during the creation of competitive 3D models.
